The ILKA Story

ILKA is a fashion studio specialising in Bridal design and alterations in Perth, Western Australia. It was founded by designers Kate Wilks and Erin Taylor in 2011, after the duo met at design school.

ILKA provides a premium Bridal Alteration service, backed by a combined 40+ years of industry experience that our exceptional team of tailors and seamstresses have behind them. 

Our talented team have honed their craft to become specialists in custom bridal alterations, clothing production, pattern cutting, grading and retail, all with second-to-none customer service on top. 

Since ILKA's inception, we have offered a range of products and services, including custom bridal and evening wear, women's ready-to-wear, and bridal alteration services.

    Having tailored hundreds of dresses to fit Perth’s brides, we have seen first-hand the confidence-boosting power of a wedding dress that fits like a glove. Our mission is to make brides feel and look incredible, no matter their size. 

    We truly believe that an inclusive and transparent Bridal wear industry is a better industry for all. By creating a safe and enthusiastic atmosphere, we work with all brides and gowns, expertly tailoring to your size and shape. We want brides to feel comfortable and confident on their special day.

    Social and environmental responsibility are integral to our company ethos. To ensure safe and fair working conditions for our team, who handle each garment, Ilka’s tailoring and manufacturing occurs entirely in our Perth city studio.

    Out of respect for the environment and in an effort to lower our carbon footprint, we are dedicated to sourcing materials that are not only durable, luxurious, and comfortable, but are also environmentally conscious. Our Australia-based suppliers keep us informed about the origins of our materials, and do their best to ensure the highest ethical standards are adhered to. We’re continually striving toward expanding the sustainability credentials of our business.
